We had so much fun last month being a community partner at the Vancouver Farmers Market. It was great seeing kiddos and adults alike get stoked about simple DIY projects for the garden. And thanks to the kind folks who emptied their change purses and pockets, we raised some cash for the Richmond Schoolyard Society.
This month, Aloe is super excited to be part of Main Street Car Free Day. This is a really fun community event, and a great way to spend Father’s Day as a family. Come on by our tent (between E. 23th and E. 24th Ave) on Sunday, June 16, between 12:00-7:00 p.m. to say hi and do a little DIY. We will be fielding gardening questions, taking on enquiries for landscape design projects, and hosting a gardening station where kids can make, plant up, and take home their own pot full of edibles.
We’ll be sharing the table with Ian Lai from the Richmond Schoolyard Society so you can learn more about this organization and all the amazing tools Ian uses to teach kids about growing food at home. And if it weren’t obvious from the name of the event, leave your car at home. Unless it’s as cool as this guy’s. Then you’re practically obligated to start a parade.
